Summary / Role Purpose


As a Senior or Lead Data Scientist on our Go-to-Market (GTM) team, you will leverage vast amounts of internal and external market and customer data to build transformative Data-Science and Machine Learning (DSML) models. These models will provide critical insights to the business, identifying opportunities to increase revenue, improve sales productivity, and drive resource efficiency.


As a Senior or Lead Data Scientist within GTM, you will refine business questions, identify the appropriate data sources, extract data, conduct quantitative analyses, define actionable metrics, synthesize information, and present insights to support GTM teams.


The incumbent will use the whole range of data science tools and capabilities to build out the following use-cases (and more):


  • Customer Segmentation
  • Territory Design
  • Lead Scoring
  • Propensity to buy
  • Cross-sell and Upsell
  • Resource optimization models
  • Revenue forecasting
  • Product Recommendations


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with large, complex data sets. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed.
  • Conduct systematical data analyses that include data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
  • Build and prototype end-to-end data workflows and data analysis pipelines iteratively to provide data insights at scale, leveraging Machine Learning and AI as needed.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of Ansys data structures and GTM metrics.
  • Create Business Intelligence dashboards, data visualizations (e.g., leveraging PowerBI or Tableau) and presentations that provide clear insights and predictions on KPIs for executive leadership.
  • Interact cross-functionally, making business recommendations with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research or other closely related quantitative or mathematical discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience developing/testing/scaling complex ML solutions.
  • Strong programming skills using Python.
  • Experience with connecting different APIs to build end-to-end data flows.
  • Strong ability to take an ambiguous business problem and develop a full-fledged ML/DS solution to solve it
  • Experience in data mining process, AI/ML techniques for market research, sales forecast, revenue prediction and customer purchase behavior modelling
  • Experience in scripting with SQL, extracting large sets of data from internal databases (SNOWFLAKE, SFDC, Oracle, Siebel) and external data sources (DnB, Capital IQ etc.), and design of ETL flows.
  • Experience in creating dashboard with PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Deep interest and aptitude in data, metrics, analysis and trends and applied knowledge of measurement, statistics, and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in a high-tech, software, SaaS company
  • Experience working with statistical packages (e.g., Excel VBA, R, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Experience in advanced programing tools (e.g., Alteryx, Python, TensorFlow)
  • Experience with Machine Learning APIs from public cloud vendors (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google)
  • MS/PhD in a quantitative field from a top tier school
